Holy Smokes!! This is brand new online. Even though it is from the New York Public Library, and centres around NY and New Jersey, there are also incredibly detailed maps of various locations including the Austro-Hungarian Empire!!! WOW!!!! http://www.nypl.org/blog/2014/03/28/open-access-maps
